Matt 25:1-13 - Read

This Parable of the 10 Virgins is only found here. This is speaking about being ready.

This parable is ultimately talking about
. preparedness.
. Watchfulness and
. Readiness

Rev 19:7 says
".His wife has made herself ready"

There is a minority that walk circumspect to make themselves ready for the Lord.

Whereas the majority of God's people continue in
. Carnality
. Immaturity
. And self centeredness

1 "Then the kingdom of heaven shall be likened to ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom.
2 Now five of them were wise, and five were foolish.

A virgin is one that has not been touched by man. Man's ideals, Systems, Traditions, Religion, concepts and precepts! "The new creature" .

Wise means the midriff or diaphragm, the parts of the heart, the mind. It speaks of perception and judging.

Foolish speaks of a hidden or secret thing, not obvious to the understanding.
The things of God are not naturally discerned. But through the spirit.
So they were without understanding of the things of God.

Saved but not being transformed!

3 Those who were foolish took their lamps and took no oil with them,

A lamp in those days was a stick with a bowl on the end and a wick. You fill it with oil and that is how you keep in lit.
The lamp is often pictured in scripture and in literature as a symbol of the spirit of a person.
The spirit of a man is the lamp of the Lord, Searching all the inner depths of his heart.
They were filled with the spirit but they did not grow in the Lord. Just being saved was enough for them.

4 but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.

That means they took oil in their lamps and extra oil in vessels.
They were filled with the Lord in their spirits but,,,also their vessels (their
Bodies) were permeated by the spirit as well.
Transformation-now hold on to that we are going in that direction..

5 But while the bridegroom was delayed, they all slumbered and slept.

Both the wise and the foolish slept.
Both the wise and the foolish, were running low on oil as the midnight hour approached. All of them were approaching "burnout". To slumber means to be negligent, or careless. Now get this.slept means to "yield to slothfulness and sin" also to be "indifferent to one's salvation". To take it lightly.

We live in the age of the Laodicean church.
. Means "people ruling"
. Poor, wretched, pitable (miserable) blind and naked, And don't know it.

If God zipped open your heart, what would He find in there?
. What are you made of on the inside?
. Is there anything being built in you that's permanent and has some solidity to it - not just cotton candy?
Somehow, there was something built into the inside of the men and women of the bible our blue print for life and godliness.

There is something being built. There is something with substance on the inside of us
. And to whatever degree that's lacking,
. to whatever degree that's missing,
. that is the degree that I am missing the Kingdom

6 "And at midnight a cry was heard: 'Behold, the bridegroom is coming;[a] go out to meet him!'

Midnight means
. The time when work ceases
. It also means the time of death
They ALL heard the cry -This cry is appointed unto man.

7 Then all those virgins arose and trimmed their lamps.

The wick may be compared to the inner man, the soul and spirit, saturated with the oil, i.e., under the Spirit's control. It is important to remember that the wick had to be trimmed, cut back, or it would smoke and the light would dim more and more until, finally, it would go out.
. The wise- knew and automatically trimmed from her life those things which hinder her walk with the Lord. Though she slept and became careless "she fell down
. but she got up
. repented and
. got back on track

8 And the foolish said to the wise, 'Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.'

Gone out means "quenched"
The primary reason for having a relationship with your brothers and sister is to make sure that there is not one single person in our sphere of influence who doesn't have oil when the bridegroom comes.

We are not here for the sake of entertainment.
We are being built together--
. This is why hard things are said to us sometimes
. And why sometimes we have to say hard things to others.

Being a nice person isn't good enough!
We must see to it that none of us has a sinful unbelieving heart!
Heb 13:12 -
Everyone of us must have oil..
. We must have OUR OWN OIL.
. You must have relationship with YOUR GOD!
. You must know His voice
. You Must be known of Him

I am accountable to you.
. To make sure that you are not too lazy to gather and store oil
. To make sure that you do not burn your oil on selfish Pride
. Or fear,Or failure before God or Man

I have to make sure that you are not burning your oil on stupid or foolish, silly, wordly personality things and not WANTING God's will for your life.

Part of being a family means:
. We know what the struggles are.
. We know where the struggles are.
. We know where the challenges are.

9 But the wise answered, saying, 'No, lest there should not be enough for us and you; but go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.'

Enough means to be possessed of unfailing strength
From the root word Airo (Ah'-ee-ro) which means to raise from the ground, take up, to raise upwards, elevate, lift up.
Sell means barter ( to exchange one commodity for another)
Buy = Root Word to raise up i.e. cause to be born.
You need to be born again before it's too late!

10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding; and the door was shut.

Shut is from the root word which means to shut up compassion so that it is like a thing inaccessible to one, to be devoid of pity towards one.
(The AGE of Grace is closed)

11 "Afterward the other virgins came also, saying, 'Lord, Lord, open to us!'

Other means "the remaining", "the rest", with a certain distinction and contrast, the rest, who are not of a specific class or number.

12 But he answered and said, 'Assuredly, I say to you, I do not know you.'

Answered means of separation i.e "departing" or fleeing
Know means to perceive with any of the senses.
So.. while he was leaving for the wedding feast he spoke back to them.(He was saying I no longer perceive you with any of my senses!)

God help us!

What is interesting is. the requirement wasn't that the people at the door Know the Lord. But... that the Lord knows YOU!

The Lord is the one who saves us
Me being a Christian is not based on what I have done, but on what He has done.
The oil in the O.T. represents the Holy Spirit.
I am a Christian or a Saint when He fills me with His Spirit.
Rom. 8:9- those that have not the Spirit are none of His..

13 "Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour[b] in which the Son of Man is coming.

Watch means give strict attention to, be cautious.
You must understand what God is doing in you to prepare you for his return! You must be ready!

Agape to you! As we run in to battle for our souls.
